Arwel

Arwel is situated in the tiny rural hamlet of Nanternis, located between New Quay and Llangrannog on the west coast of Wales.

This traditional west Wales cottage has been completely and sympathetically restored, with lime-washed stone walls and original wooden floors, doors and fantastic wooden partitions too.

On the ground floor is a large lounge and dining room with a flat screen satellite TV with Sky, DVD, CD/radio, iPod docking station and of course, a lovely cosy woodburning stove. The stove has glass doors which can also be opened to enjoy a perfectly efficient and cosy open fire. There are two comfortable leather couches, lots of books and games and a lovely antique dining table and chairs. For those who need to work there is a separate study area. Free Wi-Fi access is provided throughout for your convenience.

The kitchen is fully fitted and equipped for self catering in style. There is a ceramic top stove, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, microwave and much more. It also features a breakfast bar to enjoy the sunny feel of the kitchen.

Upstairs are two pretty bedrooms as well as a luxurious shower room. The master bedroom has a luxurious king-size bed and the added luxury of  double-ended roll-top bath. It’s an amazing experience to lie in the bath and let the birds outside your window entertain you to the background music of the stream in the valley below.

The second bedroom has a pretty traditional style curtained box bed, which is also king-size. You really won't want to leave it.

The terraced gardens which slope up at the back of the cottage are an idyllic private hideaway with beautiful woodland views, tastefully furnished decks and sunshine all day long (if you’re lucky)! Loungers, a BBQ and a parasol are all provided for your comfort. The larger terrace at the top has railings all around with gated access. Other areas include a very small wildlife pond, slopes and steps so care must be taken at all times.

Please note the following:

  • Arwel is strictly a no-smoking zone. You are kindly asked to smoke outside and never inside the cottage.
  • The cottage is approched via a sloping footpath accessed off the minor road via 3 steps (no handrail). This may be unsuitable for persons of restricted mobility, please ask for advice prior to booking if unsure.
  • Directly outside the front door of the cottage is a sunny terrace with bench to enjoy the morning sunshine, There is no gate between the front door and the minor road so children and pets must be supervised at all times when using this area.
  • The large private terraces at the back of the cottage slope up from the back kitchen door or from the gated side access. Steps (no handrail in places) lead up to 2 separate terraces. These may be unsuitable for persons of restricted mobility. Please ask for advice if unsure prior to booking.
  • The larger terrace at the top has railings all around with gated access. Other areas include a very small wildlife pond, slopes and steps so care must be take at all times.
  • Parking at Arwel is in a private parking space beside the minor unclassified road that passes in front of the cottage. The space fits a small to medium car. Larger vehicles can be parked partially protruding onto the road, Or 2 cars parked side by side, again partially on the road. This has never been an issue but if you prefer there is plenty of off road parking available approx 3 minute walk away at the bottom of the hill.
